Intervista (Finding the words)
↳ Anri Sala
FR 1998, 00:26:00
Film student Anri Sala pulls a film reel from the past out of a box. It shows his mother at a political conference with the Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha and in an interview – but without sound. In order to confront his mother with repressed aspects of the system of the time, Anri Sala, now a visual artist, has the sound reconstructed with the help of a deaf person. The intergenerational confrontation opens a door to the subject of fear in authoritarian communism. The silent archive material becomes the occasion for free exchange.
