Without a state exhibition permit, visual artist Gabriele Stötzer was active in the artistic and political underground of the GDR in the 1980s. As a central member of a women’s group in Erfurt, she made 8mm films that explored physicality as a means of feminist positioning. Veitstanz shows a variety of people in public spaces in acute states of letting go and exhaustion. Can a logocentric dictatorship be shaken off without a word?
