The performative film screening voice under is an invitation to bring your body to the cinema: to listen with your eyes, to see with your back, to respond to the screen with the felt sense of your own experience. It consists of three parts: The first part is a meditation and an 8-minute film, the second part is a board game, and the final part is a 24-minute film followed by a moment of silence. In this new work, initially developed for the Stockholm art space Accelerator, the filmmaker and meditation facilitator Ester M. Bergsmark explores the tactile as a sensitivity we share with jellyfish and ancient vertebrae, making it accessible as a source of both vulnerability and resistance. Focusing on the spine and our peripheral nervous system, the performance puts into question our frontal, cerebral sense of orientation, creating space for positive uncertainty and porous narratives about queer deep time, threat, dissociation, and reconnection.
